Tinder violates your privacy
OKAY
Sharing that sensitive data with other companies:
NOT OKAY
To match its app users as best as possible, Tinder collects a lot of information: name, gender, age, sexuality, likes and dislikes, etc. You might also share things about your ethnicity, religion, social beliefs, health, etc.
BUT... what you don't know is that Tinder profits from that sensitive information: Tinder collects much more information than necessary to make a match and shares it with other companies behind your back. Also not okay: reading your private conversations and constantly tracking your location.
These privacy violations must stop, and Tinder should compensate you for past violations.
This video summarizes this case in one minute (in Dutch). For more details: read more below.
What Tinder does is:
Illegal
It is a blatant violation of your privacy and privacy laws.
Misleading
Tinder deliberately keeps you in the dark with vague, complicated, and hard-to-find terms and conditions.
Unethical
You share very personal info with Tinder. For example, that you are still unsure about your sexuality. Or that you want to date someone of your own faith. Or that you are only interested in casual contacts. You should be the one who decides with whom you want to share these things – it is not up to Tinder to do that with other companies.
Dangerous
Tinder deliberately keeps you in the dark with vague, complicated, and hard-to-find terms and conditions.Sharing data with other parties = greater risk of data leaks. The danger of such a leak is that your data can be used where you don't want it to be. Imagine something like that happening with your sensitive Tinder info...
Take Back Your Privacy vindt dit onacceptabel en is een rechtszaak gestart waaraan jij kan meedoen.
We are filing this claim against Tinder Ireland and the American Match Group (the companies behind Tinder) because the way they process personal data violates GDPR privacy law, Dutch consumer law, and cookie legislation. More details can be found here.
We demand that Tinder:
1. immediately stops the illegal activities;
2. destroys all unlawfully collected data;
3. pays damages to compensate Tinder users for letting their data end up with external parties.
You can sign up to get your share of the compensation (for free and without risk).
