On May 1, 2024, TBYP received a notification from the Amsterdam District Court that the procedure will be paused until at least October 2, 2024. The court stated that it is currently unclear how to proceed with the appeal filed by SOMI, SMC, and TBYP. SMC and TBYP have indicated to the court that the procedure regarding the substance of the violations can continue, while simultaneously the appeal is ongoing regarding, among other things, the legal possibilities to claim damages. This prevents unnecessary delays. On the other hand, TikTok is interested in delaying the procedure and argued to the court that it should be paused until the Amsterdam Court of Appeal has decided on the appeal. On October 2, 2024, all parties may present further arguments regarding the continuation of the procedure at the court.
